Mountain Man – RfV Zaku II

The decal comes from a maschinen krieger kit, it just felt perfect for this idea. 

For this project I wanted to really push the rendering. Light and shadow, weathering, chipping, oils, snow and frost. I'm really happy with how it turned out. 

At first I wanted to use the gun, but after fully painting it, and trying the final pose, it just didn't seem right. Instead the model would be bare handed, and have the heat hawk mounted on the back. 

I thought it might be fun to paint the heat hawk as a normal shiny axe, instead of a glowing in its active state. 

I used two texture paints to create the snow, Valhallan Blizzard from Citadel and Snow Sprinkles from AK. I also made icicles from clear plastic packaging and resin.
