連邦とゼオンフォースとの脆弱な和平協定の最中に、ゼオンに忠誠を誓う代理集団が、計画されたゼオン侵攻の転送拠点として、地上に隠された要塞を建設しているという情報が届きました。不均一な地面と密集した森林のため、アクセス不可能であると報告されており、重い砲台や狙撃塔、厚いコンクリートの堤防など多数の防御施設が整備されています。

RGM-79 GM機動スーツの2つの飛行隊が基地を偵察するために派遣され、迅速に後退させられ、甚大な損失を被った。

緊急会議が呼び出され、現地指揮官であるアズマ・カール・トンプソンが率いる。それは、トンプソンがエンジニアたちと関わり、若い頃に設計したRB-79PPポリポッドボールを、その機動性がゼオン基地を取り巻く地形に対応できるという考えで再現した場所でした。エンジニアは、RB-79が180mmの低反動砲しか装備されていないという、そんな馬鹿げた概念に笑いました。

トンプソンは、ポリポッドボールを最初に開発した際、これ以上カスタマイズしたいという希望はなかったと述べ、その時が来たとし、エンジニアに装甲板やできるだけ多くの武器を追加するよう指示した。彼は、ガトリング砲や大砲、ロケットランチャーなど、収まるものは何でも要求した。

彼はまた、将校訓練中に歴史上の多くの有名な戦闘を研究することで得られた心理的要素や、ポリポッドを基にしたボールへの言及、そして1960年代に東南アジアでの米国交戦における彼のお気に入りの戦車であるM48A1パットン（サメの口）を前面に塗装するよう依頼し、基地防衛者をさらに恐怖に陥れるよう依頼した。

そして、オペレーション・クローリング・サンダーが誕生しました。十個の重装備ポリポッドボール（コード名はデスマシン）が送られる予定でした。それぞれが異なる位置から攻撃し、各ボールに装着された8名のRGM-79 GMと2名のGMスナイパーのために進路を開拓します。

時間は重要でしたが、エンジニアはそのような武器をボールに追加できるでしょうか。もし可能であれば、クローリング・サンダーは成功し、ゼオンに地球上の転送基地を奪うことができるでしょうか？

I wrote some fiction to go with my custom RB-79PP project that i am preparing to start. I hope you enjoy the concept  and will see the ball once finished. Apologies for any translation problems. 

During a fragile peace agreement between federation and zeonforces, intelligence came in that a proxy group, loyal to zeon, had been constructing a hidden fortification on earth to act as a forwarding base for a planned zeon invasion. It was reported to be inaccessible due to uneven ground and dense woodland and featuring numerous fortifications such as heavy gun emplacements, sniper towers and thick concrete embankments. 
Two squadrons of RGM-79 GM mobile suits were sent to probe the base and were swiftly pushed back suffering heavy losses. 
An urgent meeting was called headed by local commander, Azuma Carl Thompson. It was there that Thompson engaged with engineers to recreate theRB-79PP poly pod ball he designed in his youth with the idea that its added mobility could cope with the terrain surrounding the zeon base. An engineer laughed at such a ridiculous concept as the RB-79was only equipped with a 180mm low recoil cannon.
Thompson said that when he originally developed polypod ball that he had no wishes to customise it further, that time had now come and he instructed engineers to add armour plates and as many weapons as possible. He demanded gatling guns, cannons and rocket launchers, anything that could fit. 
He also referred to psychological elements learnt from studying many famous battles from history during his officer training and in a nod to the ball he based poly pod on, and a tank from his favourite battle during a U.S engagement in south east Asia during the 1960’s, the M48A1 Patton, a shark mouth was requested to be painted on the front to further scare the bases defenders. 
And so operation crawling thunder was born. Ten heavily armed polypod balls, code named death machines, were to be sent. Each attacking from a different position and clearing a path for the eight RGM-79 GM and two GM snipers attached toeach ball. 
Time was critical, could the engineers add such weaponry to a ball and if so could crawling thunder succeed and deny zeon a forwarding base on Earth?
