HG 1/144 Strike Ryubi

This custom project started from my interest in the SD Ryubi from the SD Brave Battle Warriors line. What attracted me the most was the unique “3 Beast” feature, which works similarly to the striker pack system from the Strike Gundam in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED.

However, over time I felt the original SD proportions did not fully match the image I had in mind. The oversized chibi-style head reduced the majestic and warrior-like presence I wanted the design to have. Because of that, I decided to combine it with the body of the Entry Grade 1/144 Strike Gundam to achieve a more balanced proportion.

As the project evolved, I continued rebuilding and refining the design. I felt the overall shape still lacked a noble and powerful appearance, and the body’s imaginary lines looked too thin and less imposing. So I decided to do another round of kitbashing using parts from the SD World SDSS Zhang Fei God Gundam from the Sangoku Soketsuden series.

I used the waist armor parts to create a more majestic silhouette inspired by traditional Japanese samurai armor. I was also fascinated by Zhang Fei’s claw-like facial ornament, so I adapted those elements into claw details and blade features. The blade parts originally attached to Zhang Fei’s arms were then relocated onto the legs to strengthen the aggressive and heroic feel of the final design.

Although this project is still unfinished and continues to evolve, I’m happy because little by little the design is starting to get closer to the image I imagined in my mind. Hehe.
