HG 1/144 Gundam Age 2 Dark Rebellion

This time, I wanted to develop the Gundam AGE-2 into an antagonist Gunpla that I imagined as a true rival for the Wing Gundam Zero Honoo.

After reading Gundam Build Fighters Honoo Try, I became interested in the idea of a Gunpla having a strong identity and character as a rival. From there, I tried to create my own interpretation.

The base is the Gundam AGE-2, combined with parts from the HG Transient Glacier, Option Weapon Joker, and a halberd/spear-type weapon as its main weapon.

While building it, I focused not only on the appearance but also on joint compatibility and mechanical continuity between the different parts. This approach was inspired by the mechanical design style of Kanetake Ebikawa, making the different components feel integrated rather than simply attached together.

For the overall concept, I was inspired by Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon from Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V. I really like how the monster combines a dark, sharp, aggressive, yet elegant appearance.

I wanted to translate those characteristics into a mobile suit:

Dark + Sharp + Aggressive + Elegant.

For me, the goal of this custom is not simply to make an AGE-2 with additional parts, but to create a Gunpla with its own identity as an antagonist and a worthy rival to Wing Zero Honoo.
