I am excited to show my second ever painted gundam kit. This master grade RX-79[G] was printed in 1998 and was a pleasure to build. There was some evidence that it is an older model kit design, but overall the experience was very positive. This was also my first attempt at using pre-shading agter studying the work of Max Wantanabe and Saint-Ism.
I found that most of my problems came at the end during posing. I learned many lessons about how I can better apply paint during my next builds to allow for more poses and to maintain the use of gimmicks without issue.
Since I will be gifting this model to a friend, I made it a travel case using a relatively cheap plastic carry case bought off the internet that came with a cubed foam insert that I could cut out to fit the model perfectly.
I utilized the recommendations of Saint-ism by painting my yellow and red pieces with a base coat of pink to preserve the warmth of the colors. Then I used pure white to pre-shade.
I cut out pieces of the box art and glued it into the recessed areas of the plastic case. I then added a clear coat covering to protect the art and cardboard over time.
